About Central Nervous System Cancers
There are many types of brain and spinal cord tumors. Tumors formed by the abnormal growth of cells may begin in different parts of the brain or spinal cord, which makes up the central nervous system. While central nervous system cancers are rare, accounting for only 2% of cancers, they can occur at any age but are most common in young children and older adults.
