Gary Ronay, M.D.
Dr. Ronay is a general urologist who after 33 years of practice has decided to specialize in prostate problems with special emphasis in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of prostate cancer.
Dr. Ronay was in private practice for 32 years before joining TBRO, having worked with Dr. Steel, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Greenberg, and Dr. Koval for over 25 years. Dr. Ronay decided to join the TBRO team primarily because of the excellent care he knows TBRO provides to patients, as well as to provide TBRO with a highly-experienced in-house urologist to manage patients’ urologic needs.
Dr. Ronay would like patients to know,
“Early prostate cancer can often be diagnosed if a patient has an abnormal prostate specific antigen (PSA), a laboratory blood test, or abnormal rectal exam. We utilize advanced diagnostic technology including ultrasound, MRI, and CT imaging and work closely with very experienced pathologists who specialize in prostate cancer diagnosis.
“If diagnosed with prostate cancer for which curative treatment is indicated, I will have a very detailed discussion with the patient and his family regarding the various therapeutic options available. At TBRO, we utilize the most modern external beam, Cyberknife, and Radioactive Seed Implantation equipment in conjunction with medical physicists specializing in prostate cancer treatment. Additionally, I work very closely with urologic oncologists at Lee Moffitt Cancer Center as well as at the University of South Florida (USF) if the patient wishes to pursue surgical intervention (usually utilizing the DaVinci robot).”
Personal Life:
“I am married 33 years to a great lady and have 3 wonderful children, the oldest an attorney, the middle one currently attending Rutgers medical school in Newark, N.J. and my youngest is still in school pursuing a career in education.
“My hobbies include scuba diving, underwater photography and videography, skiing and I am an avid collector and operator of vintage Lionel trains and accessories as well as a collector of antique medical equipment.
“I greatly enjoy my profession and routinely spend substantial time with my patients managing their urologic needs. I strive to treat every patient as family.”
